Are you new to Germany and looking for a community where you can feel at home and connect with others? Our group is a place where (international) students come together, build friendships, and explore faith together.
Our university group brings together people from different churches and communities. No matter what your background is and what you believe – you are very welcome here!
We want to help you find your way around here quickly and at the same time offer you a space in which you can grow in your faith or simply ask questions. Together, we discover what the good news of Jesus means for each of us.

What we do
We are a Christian student group that focuses on community, sharing and faith. Together, we meet to discuss important questions about life and faith, explore the Bible, and build meaningful friendships.
In addition to regular meetings, we offer exciting events such as lectures, discussion evenings and leisure activities. Everyone is welcome – regardless of faith, background or course of study! You can find an overview of our current events here:
Large group meetings
During the semester, we meet every Wednesday evening for our large group gatherings. Here we want to share God’s love with other people and have fellowship as SMD. To this end, we meet regularly for theme evenings, where we listen to a short input on exciting topics about God, faith and being a Christian, exchange thoughts and make music together. At the same time, the program also consists of activities such as worship, shared meals or relaxed game nights. Above all, the large group meetings give you the opportunity to get to know lots of cool people. Everyone is welcome, just drop by! If you have any questions, please get in touch!
Small groups
Small groups are the perfect place for deeper community and personal exchange. In these smaller gatherings, we meet weekly in a cozy atmosphere to read the Bible together, discuss what we’ve read, and share prayer requests. If you’re looking for a small group or would simply like to try out an evening, feel free to send an email!
Vacation bible study group
During the semester break, we want to stay connected with everyone who’s still in Würzburg through a joint small group. We will have dinner together, pray and read the Bible. These meetings take place on Wednesdays at 7:30 PM at different locations. You can find the latest information via our WhatsApp group or email list. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to join us!

The theme evenings take place at 7:30 PM at the Neue Uni in room 129. The rest of the program takes place either in the rooms of the EFG Würzburg or outside. You can get more detailed information about the semester program via Instagram or our e-mail distribution list.
Who we are
The Hochschul-SMD is a network of Christian university groups. We are one of around 80 other SMD groups throughout Germany. We believe that an essential part of the Christian faith is communication: God communicates with us through the Bible and other people. That’s why we discuss questions of faith with each other and talk to our fellow students about what inspires us. For us, thinking, believing and experiencing belong together.
We are a volunteer initiative and are supported by a full-time regional officer and volunteer group facilitators. If you would like to know more about SMD, you can find information here (or here for international work).
Our group in Würzburg currently consists of around 30 students from all disciplines. We want every student to hear about the good news of Jesus.
Currently we usually meet at the Neue Uni (Raum 129) for our large group meetings, exact information on where our meetings take place can be found in the semester schedule.
The SMD Würzburg is currently led by Hanna (22, psychology) and Katha (24, speech therapy). If you have any questions, feel free to contact them.
