Welcome

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT GROUP · SMD STUTTGART

Far from home.
Not alone.

We are international students from all over the world. Every Tuesday we meet for dinner, friendship and honest conversations about life and faith.

Many countries.
One table.

Students from many countries, different cultures, one big table. Whether you just arrived in Stuttgart or you are about to graduate, there is a seat for you.

No membership, no sign-up, no background needed. Just come as you are – and bring a friend.

Every evening starts with dinner together. After that, one of three formats:

Bible Study

Open the Bible together. No background needed, just curiosity.

Burning Topics of Life

Big questions, honest answers: suffering, purpose, identity, hope.

Games & Hangout

Board games, snacks, lots of laughter. The easiest evening to bring a friend.

Curious about Jesus?
Let’s talk.

We are a Christian student group. We believe Jesus brings real hope, and that his message makes sense in every culture.

Whatever your background or beliefs, you are welcome to ask, question and discover it with us.

Winters are long.
Friendships make them shorter.

Studying abroad means leaving family and friends behind. Here you will find people who share meals with you, celebrate with you, and are there for you when life gets hard.

International students and a German host family sharing a Christmas dinner

FRIENDS FOR DINNER

Christmas far from home?
There’s a table for you.

Christmas is the time Germans spend with family – and the time many international students feel the distance most. Through Friends for Dinner, a German host family invites you to celebrate Christmas with them: their food, their traditions, their table.

New to Germany?
We’ve been there.

German has a word for everything. Here are four you will meet in your first weeks. Tap or hover to translate.

Anmeldung

What’s that?

Registering your address at the Bürgerbüro. You need it for almost everything else, so do it in your first weeks.

Rundfunkbeitrag

What’s that?

That letter about a broadcasting fee? Yes, it is real. One payment per flat – share it with your flatmates.

Hausarzt

What’s that?

Your family doctor – your first stop when you are sick. Find one before you need one.

Deutschlandticket

What’s that?

One monthly ticket for all local buses and trains in Germany. Ask us which ticket is right for you.

Someone in our group has figured it out before. Just ask.
